Journey through time since WPS:
- Seng Sun went to Penang Free School after WPS and received a culture shock when confronted with boys from the other schools. Nevertheless, he managed to survive seven years there before moving on to Tunku Abdul Rahman College to do a science programme.
- However, he ended up first as a journalist with The Straits Echo -- but only for about six months -- before switching to Ban Hin Lee Bank where he stayed for 24 years. Ultimately, he joined JobStreet.com as their Content Manager for eight years until his retirement in 2009.
- Right now, he is into estate planning, doing Wills and Trusts for clients, an activity he has been indulging in since 1995.
- For 32 years, from 1980 till 2012, he was a freelance chess correspondent with The Star newspaper.
- In 2012, he was requested to assist with the writing of Fidelis which was the commemorative coffee table book of The Old Frees Association. More recently in 2016, he authored Let the Aisles Proclaim which traced the history of Penang Free School from 1816. He is very passionate about the links with his old schools.
- Another significant book was Ten Thousand Prosperities: The Story of Ban Hin Lee Bank which he completed in 2021.
- He is the Chairman and Trustee of Swee Cheok Tong (Seh Quah Kongsi) and the sister organisation of Persatuan Hye Inn Tong Kongsi, both in Penang.
