Journey through time since WPS:
  • After WPS, Siang Jin went to Penang Free School where he became quite active in school activities, and held the post of Head Boy in 1972.
  • He later graduated with a BA (Hons) Sociology, from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK, and an MA, Sociology, from the University of Leeds, UK.
  • Siang Jin became a journalist and a communications consultant, working in the late 1970s and 1980s in several places like The Malay Mail, International Organisation of Consumers Unions, Malaysian Business and the Institute of Strategic & International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia.
  • A founding director of The Edge in 1994, he later became Group Managing Director, Media Business, of public-listed Nexnews Berhad which owned The Edge and theSun (the group has since broken up).
  • He semi-retired in 2005 and has since been engaged in his own projects involving publishing, training and consultancy.
