Journey through time since WPS:
- After WPS, Guan Khim did his secondary schooling in Penang Free School. In 1972, he left to continue his studies in Australia where he later graduated with a BE (Mech) from the University of NSW.
- He stayed back in Sydney after graduation and joined NSW Public Works, where he spent his entire professional life, working in a number of engineering and management positions.
- His work involved engineering services in buildings, with the latter half of his working life focused on sustainability, covering aspects such as greenhouse abatement, green buildings, energy and water management, and renewable energy.
- He retired in 2014 and has been enjoying the things he never had enough time doing while working, like frequent visits to Penang, travel and indulging in his love of early music.
